While this may be adequate for small research projects, a more reliable workflow is required for clinically relevant metabolomics projects to assure accurate identification, completely reproducible quantitation and performance criteria for instrumentation.  In order to make this possible, advanced metabolic profiling tool are required.

IROA TruQuant IQQ, an advanced metabolic profiling tool, includes a set of complex internal standards for biomarker discovery and reproducibility. These internal standardscorrect for ionization inefficiencies/matrix effects in order to produce suppression-corrected data and provide cross-platform quantitative reproducibility together with validated compound identification and consistent instrument QA/QC.

The TruQuant IQQ workflow contains two sets of complex metabolite C13-labeledLong-Term internal standards can help you to overcome the cross-platform normalization of measurements using the same or different analytical methodologies. These internal standards provide the means for data standardization while also providing high-quality data, quality assurance, compound identification, and quantitation.

The IROA TruQuant IQQ workflow includesa carefully formulated long-term reference standard (IROA-LTRS) that contains over 500 compounds labeled with 95%- and 5% C13 (and mixed 1:1). Why95%/5%? These unique metabolite signatures in the LTRS are computationally easy to find and enables a software solution to assure  completely verified compound identification and also provide a daily measure of instrumentation performance.          

The second set of IROA Internal Standards (IROA-IS) has the same chemical profile as the IROA-LTRS(based on the same concentration of 95%-C13 only) andandthis acts as an internal standard (spiked into experimental samples) to locate corresponding natural abundance isotopomers in any sample.
